A new roll is tightly filled with fresh husks. It will soften over time, but if you want to reduce the thickness now, you can open the roll, pour a cup of husks (or more) into a paper sack or cotton bag and see if you're comfortable. You can save any excess husks for later, perhaps refilling the roll later.

Care instructions for the MMN roll

You can wash the MMN roll after pouring out the husks. Thanks to the sewn-in zipper, the cover can be easily removed and washed at temperatures up to 40 degrees. The husks themselves are not cleaned. If the roll gets wet, you should remove the husks and dry them in a warm, ventilated place.
